From the Great Pyramids of Giza – already 2,500 years old when Cleopatra was born – to the villages along the Nile Valley, and the famed River Nile itself, revel in the country’s regal and daring past. A special bonus is a visit to Queen Nefertari’s Tomb, reputed to be the most beautiful of all Pharaonic tombs. No Egyptian experience is complete without a meandering 4-night voyage on the River Nile. In Aswan, capital of ancient Nubia, luxuriate in the resplendent Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel. Lounge in the very hotel where Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile. Dine in the 1902 Restaurant featured as the Grand Ballroom in the film version of the book. A highlight is your visit to stunning Abu Simbel, Ramses the Great’s massive monument to himself and favorite wife, Queen Nefertari.   • Day 1, Thursday: Depart USA En Route

    Depart USA on your overnight flight to Cairo.

  • Day 2, Friday: Arrive Cairo Four Seasons Nile Plaza

    Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you are met with VIP Services and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is free to adjust to the time change.

  • Day 3, Saturday: Cairo Four Seasons Nile Plaza

    Explore the Giza Plateau – go “mano-a-mano” with the Sphinx on a private visit to its paws! Enter the floor of the quarry and walk around the massive beast, exploring the paws, tail, and multiple repairs over the ages by the Greeks, Romans and Europeans See firsthand the remarkable Dream Stela of Pharaoh Thutmosis IV. Continue up the modest incline to see the three great Pyramids, Khufu, Khafre & Menkaure, and the exact location where the Solar Boats were found. Break for lunch at stunning Khufu House, with amazing view of the Pyramids. Take a sunset felucca sailing on the Nile! (B,L)

  • Day 4, Sunday: Cairo Four Seasons Nile Plaza

    Start today with the new Royal Mummies Room at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilizations. Later walk along el Moaz Street to see the exquisite Islamic architecture in the Khan el Khalili Bazaar. End your day at Sultan Hassan Mosque, considered the finest example of Islamic architecture in Egypt. Lunch during the day in the Old City. (B,L)

  • Day 5, Monday: Cairo Four Seasons Nile Plaza

    Return to the Giza Plateau and King Djoser’s famous Step Pyramid at Sakkara. Explore the beautiful Book of the Dead texts in the Pyramids of Unas. Walk the Pharaoh’s Royal Tunnel under the Step Pyramid to see the King’s Burial Chamber. See select Early Kingdom tombs Mehu and Mereruka. After a farm lunch, continue the Grand Egyptian Museum - the largest museum in the world dedicated to one civilization - taking over two decades to complete. Four Seasons Nile Plaza (B,L)

  • Day 6, Tuesday: Cairo / Luxor Sofitel Old Winter Palace

    Morning flight to Luxor. After lunch on your own in the gardens of the Old Winter Palace, visit massive Karnak Temple and the incredible Hypostyle Hall. Later, see Luxor Temple at sunset. Take a stroll down the stunning Avenue of the Sphinxes. Spectacular! (B)

  • Day 7, Wednesday: Luxor Sofitel Old Winter Palace

    Travel to the West Bank of ancient Thebes to visit the Colossi of Memnon and the excavations currently being conducted on Amenhotep’s Mortuary Temple. At the Valley of Kings, see King Tut’s Tomb and the tombs of Ramses VI and Seti I. In the Valley of the Queens, have an incredible visit to Queen Nefertari’s Tomb, considered the most beautiful Pharaonic tombs. Dinner suggestion: Enjoy French cuisine in the hotel’s 1886 Restaurant.   • Day 8, Thursday: Luxor / Esna / Embark Dahabiya Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Transfer to Esna to embark your Nile Dahabiya cruise. Sail toward El Kab, the ancient city Nekheb, where a short walk takes you to the remains of temples and tombs. Your ship moors for the night at a small island. Dine on the sundeck or the banks of the river Nile – golden in the evening light. (B,L,D)

  • Day 9, Friday: Edfu / Wasi El Shat Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Sail on to Edfu where a horse & carriage takes you to the Temple of Horus. Buried for hundreds of years, it was preserved almost intact by the sand, making it a true marvel to visit. Sail to an island near Wadi el Shat for a walk through small desert villages. (B,L,D)

  • Day 10, Saturday: Gebel El Silsila / Kom Ombo Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Relax on deck as the riverside passes by to Gebel El Silsila – site of the ancient sandstone quarries. Explore the rock-cut chapels of Seti I, Ramses II, Merenptah and Horemheb. Sail to Kom Ombo and visit the double temple of Sobek and Haroeris. Dinner around a campfire along the Nile. (B,L,D

  • Day 11, Sunday: Daraw / Koubania Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Sail to the village of Daraw, once the final stop for camel traders on the Forty Days Road between Sudan and Egypt. Sail on to Koubania, a Nubian village with fragrant citrus and mango trees. Savor your last night aboard your Dahabiya before your arrival in Aswan tomorrow. (B,L,D)

  • Day 12, Monday: Disembark Dahabiya / Aswan Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel

    Disembark your Nile cruise. Morning exploration of the archaeological excavations currently being conducted on Elephantine Island. Stroll through the colorful local Nubian village and meet the Village Elder. Free afternoon to enjoy the leisurely pace and beauty of your hotel overlooking the Nile’s First Cataract. Dinner suggestion: Dine on your own at the hotel’s famous 1902 Restaurant, featured as the Grand Ballroom in the movie version of Agatha Christie’s famous novel Death on the Nile. (B)

  • Day 14, Wednesday: Aswan Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel

    Visit the pink granite Nubian Museum providing a fascinating view of Pharaonic Egypt form the Nubian perspective. Later in the afternoon stroll the streets of the local Aswan Bazaar and its colorful Spice Market. Evening private yacht dinner cruise on the Nile! (B,D)

  • Day 15, Thursday: Aswan / Cairo InterContinental CityStars

    Morning air excursion to Abu Simbel and the temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. Return flight to Cairo and transfer to your hotel. Tonight is your farewell dinner savoring memories of an amazing trip! (B,L,D)

  • Day 16, Friday: Depart Cairo En Route
