Italy Tuscany & Umbria

With the two spectacular urban centers of Rome and Florence acting as bookends, discover the hidden treasures of Tuscany and Umbria. Visit Bettona, Deruta, Perugia, Assisi and the gorgeous medieval town of Montefalco, called “The Terrace of Umbria.” Attend a cooking class in a farmhouse in Tuscany, take a walking tour in medieval Siena and enjoy charming Montepulciano.


  • Day 1 | Depart USA En Route

    Depart on your overnight flight to Rome.

  • Day 2 | Rome Palazzo Naiadi

    Arrive at the Rome Airport and transfer to your hotel. Welcome drink and free time.

  • Day 3 | Rome Palazzo Naiadi

    Breakfast and meeting with our guide at the hotel. The morning will be dedicated to a panoramic visit from Piazza Venezia, where the most important arteries of the city meet. At the Imperial Forums you will have a taste of the atmosphere of Antique Rome. You will visit the Coliseum, the most famous and greatest monument of the Roman age, and the Arch of Triumph of Constantine. Lunch and afternoon at leisure to continue exploring on your own. (B)

  • Day 4 | Rome Palazzo Naiadi

    Breakfast and meeting with our guide at your hotel. This morning you will travel to the Vatican Museums where you will enjoy a visit of the Sistine Chapel with pre-reserved admission tickets before opening hours to the general public, in order to avoid long lines. (Not possible on Sunday). Lunch and afternoon at leisure. (B)

  • Day 5 | Perugia Castello di Monterone

    After breakfast, depart for the Umbria region with an English speaking driver/escort who will remain with you for touring. Arrival in Bettona, a lovely medieval village in the heart of the region. Accommodations in your room and welcome dinner in the hotel's restaurant, which serves typical Umbrian fare. (B,D)

  • Day 6 | Perugia Castello di Monterone

    After breakfast, meet with your local guide and together with your driver, depart for the hilltop town of Torgiano, close to Bettona where we suggest a visit of the Wine Museum. It will delight both the connoisseur and the merely curious. You'll have the chance to taste the particular wines of Umbria's most illustrious wine house, Cantine Giorgio Lungarotti, which lies just outside Torgiano. The rest of the afternoon can be spent in Deruta, renowned for its beautiful ceramic and pottery. Here we suggest a visit to the National Museum of Pottery, located in the village centre. You will also have time to stop in Perugia, an elegant town renowned for its production of chocolate (the world famous “Bacio” candy was born here). Return to Bettona for evening at leisure. (B)

  • Day 7: | Perugia Castello di Monterone

    After breakfast, depart for Montefalco, a gorgeous medieval town called “the terrace of Umbria” for its incredible panoramic location. Here you will visit an ancient olive oil mill run by a lovely lady and her family for a tasting of traditional local food and olive oil. Typical Italian snacks will be served. Continue to Assisi for a tour of the main monuments. Return to your hotel for evening at leisure. (B)

  • Day 8 | Castellina in Chianti Frattoria Tregole

    After breakfast departure for Tuscany. We suggest a first stop at the Renaissance town of Montepulciano. The town is the birthplace of the humanist poet Poliziano and host to works of some of Italy's greatest architects. Enjoy a wine tasting with snacks and a tour in an ancient wine cellar in the city center. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, stop in the lovely town of Pienza and take your time to get lost in the narrow and characteristic streets of the town, which names such as “la Via dell'Amore”, are so romantic. Arrival in Castellina in Chianti and check into your lovely farmhouse hotel. Evening at leisure. (B, WT)

  • Day 9 | Castellina in Chianti Frattoria Tregole

    This morning attend a cooking class at the farmhouse. You'll learn the main secrets of Italian cuisine, such as the art of making delicious pasta. Enjoy for lunch what you created during the cooking class. The reminder of the afternoon could be spent in San Gimignano, wandering among the towers and shops of this timeless medieval town. Return to your hotel for evening at leisure. (B,L)

  • Day 10 | Castellina in Chianti Frattoria Tregole

    After breakfast, depart for a morning tour of Siena and discover its splendid “Duomo” and unique Piazza del Campo where the Palio race is held twice a year. Wander its medieval streets filled with delightful shops. Before returning to your hotel, explore the Chianti region which is known around the world for fine wines. Enjoy a bit of culture with a tasting and tour of winery, complete with tasting. Return to your hotel for evening at leisure. (B, WT)

  • Day 11 | Florence Hotel Brunelleschi

    After breakfast, your driver will transfer you to Florence where you will check-in at your hotel. Evening at leisure. (B)

  • Day 12 | Florence Hotel Brunelleschi

    Meet with your guide at the hotel for a half day walking tour of this splendid city of art ending at the Accademia, home of Michelangelo's famous David (pre-reserved tickets will be included to avoid lines –closed on Monday). Afternoon and evening at leisure. (B)

  • Day 13 | Florence Hotel Brunelleschi

    This morning, meet with your guide at the hotel for a tour of some of the most interesting artisan boutiques in Florence, famous for leather, gold, paper and ceramics. Afternoon at leisure. We can arrange for pre-reserved tickets for a visit of the Uffizi Gallery (closed on Monday). (B)

  • Day 14 | Depart Florence En Route

    Transfer to the Florence airport for your flight home. Arriverderci! (B)
